The program aimed to help school students understand childhood cancer, recognize its symptoms, and learn why early detection and timely treatment are so important.

Ramesh Gupta Memorial Trust (RGMT), a CSR initiative of Ramesh Corp., in collaboration with the Patan Academy of Health Sciences (PAHS) and World Child Cancer, organized a Cancer Awareness Program at Campion Hospital, Lalitpur, on 25th September 2025. The program aimed to help school students understand childhood cancer, recognize its symptoms, and learn why early detection and timely treatment are so important.

Participants

A total of 155 students from Classes 9 and 10, along with their teachers, took part in the session. The students were highly engaged and showed great enthusiasm to learn more about child health and cancer awareness.

Resource Persons

The session was led by Dr. Saucharita Tuladhar and Dr. Sajal from PAHS, who shared valuable knowledge on childhood cancer. The MBBS Students’ Union of PAHS supported the program by helping conduct and coordinate the session, making it more interactive and meaningful.

 

Program Highlights

The awareness session covered several important topics, including:

- Common myths and taboos related to cancer

- Early warning signs and symptoms of childhood cancer

-  When to seek medical help and the importance of early consultation

- Interactive discussions and a Q&A segment helped clear doubts, break misconceptions, and encourage students to express their thoughts openly.

A message of hope: Childhood cancer is curable with the right diagnosis and treatment.

Outcome

The program successfully improved students’ understanding of childhood cancer and encouraged positive attitudes toward early detection and treatment. Many students shared that they felt more aware, more confident, and ready to pass on this knowledge to their families and communities.
