In this session of Tips from Expert, we had a conversation with Mr. Raj Jung Thapa. With more than 17 years of experience in marketing and advertising, Mr. Raj Jung Thapa is currently associated as one of the Senior Marketing Managers at Ramesh Corp. He possesses extensive expertise in strategic planning and execution of marketing initiatives for several national and international businesses.
In late 2015, he began working as a Marketing Manager for Nepal's OEM brand "Colors Mobile" at Teletalk Pvt. Ltd., a Ramesh Corp Entity. Mr. Thapa is now a Senior Marketing Manager at Ramesh Corp., where he is active in many group verticals such as Nokia & Colors mobile, BoAt lifestyle (IoT brand), GFS Arena (OTT brands Sony and Altbalaji), Telenet (AI Cloud computing brand Ali Cloud), and Televenture (Investment Firm).

What is the most important skill set needed in the field of marketing for someone who is just starting a career in marketing?
For someone who is starting their career as a marketer, it is important to have strong problem-solving and creativity skills, as well as the ability to understand and connect with target audiences through effective communication. This includes communicating with a range of individuals and groups from different verticals and layers.
What do you think distinguishes good marketing managers from great ones?
I think a great marketing manager possesses strategic thinking, creativity, strong communication skills, leadership, adaptability, data-driven decision-making, and a customer-centric approach. With these characteristics, they can develop and execute effective marketing strategies, communicate effectively, lead their team, adapt to changing market conditions, use data to inform decisions, and understand their target audience's needs and preferences.
How important do you think content marketing is in the marketing world?
In a digital age like today, content marketing is a crucial aspect of marketing. It helps businesses build trust and credibility by providing valuable and informative content that addresses the needs of their customers. Not only that, but it can also attract and retain customers, improve search engine rankings, generate leads, and increase brand awareness. Overall, it helps businesses build relationships with their target audience, which leads to increased sales and long-term success for the business.
How do you establish a positive and ongoing relationship with your audience?
In my experience, I think understanding your audience is one of the most important aspects of establishing a positive and ongoing relationship with the audience. Creating valuable and relevant content while engaging with the audience can help brands establish trust and credibility among the audience. When you foster a sense of community with the audience by providing them with appropriate content, engagement, and excellent customer service, you can establish and maintain a positive and ongoing relationship with your audience leading to increased sales and long-term success for any business.
How have new or digital marketing methods affected traditional marketing ways?
Digital marketing methods have significantly affected traditional marketing in several ways. One of the major effects is that they have made it easier and more cost-effective for businesses to reach a wider audience. With the rise of the internet and social media, businesses can now reach people all over the world with just a few clicks of a button. With traditional marketing, it can be difficult to measure the effectiveness of a campaign, but with digital marketing, businesses can track the success of their efforts in real-time and make adjustments as needed. This allows them to fine-tune their marketing efforts and personalize their marketing efforts. With traditional marketing, it can be difficult to tailor messages to specific groups of people, but with digital marketing, businesses can use data and analytics to target their marketing efforts to specific demographics or interests.
Do you think the digital way of marketing will replace the conventional methods of marketing?
It is unlikely that digital marketing will completely replace traditional marketing methods. While digital marketing has become an increasingly important part of the marketing mix, traditional marketing methods such as print advertising, billboards, and television commercials can still be effective in certain situations to create a strong emotional connection with viewers. That being said, businesses need to have a strong presence in both traditional and digital marketing channels to effectively reach and engage their target audience.
How has Ramesh Corp. helped you in your career on both professional and personal levels?
On a professional level, working at Ramesh Corp has allowed me to develop my skills and knowledge in the field of marketing. I have had the opportunity to work on a variety of marketing campaigns and projects, which has helped me to broaden my experience and understand different marketing strategies and tactics. Additionally, I have had the opportunity to work not just on the core business of the company but also collaborate on projects which involved multiple scopes like Digital products, Sports, CSR, and many more.
