Initiated by Ramesh Gupta Memorial Trust & Supported by World Child Cancer & Amgen
On September 28th, 2024, we organized two meaningful events at the NMA Hall in Kathmandu—a Family Support Peer Group session and a Nutritional Exhibition. These events aimed to provide emotional support to cancer survivors and their families, while also highlighting the important role of nutrition in cancer treatment.
Despite challenging weather conditions, a total of 60 families participated in the events. While some families were unable to join due to the weather, those who attended had the valuable opportunity to connect with others facing similar challenges.
Similarly, the Family Support Peer Group provided a space for families to share their experiences, offer mutual support, and gain insights into managing the emotional and psychological challenges of cancer treatment. Participants expressed gratitude for the sense of community and encouragement they received from others in similar situations.
Likewise, the Nutritional Exhibition focused on educating attendees about the importance of proper nutrition during cancer treatment. Experts emphasized how a balanced diet can boost the immune system, support recovery, and improve overall well-being. The exhibition also provided information on cancer-fighting foods and practical meal-planning tips.
Overall, the event was a huge success, fostering connections, sharing knowledge, and supporting families on their cancer journeys. Despite the weather challenges, the engagement and enthusiasm from participants made it a memorable and valuable experience.
