Xiaomi Smartphone
Xiaomi was founded in 2010 by entrepreneur Lei Jun with the belief that high-quality technology and affordable smartphones should be accessible to everyone. From the beginning, the company has developed mobile devices, hardware, software, and internet services through active engagement with its community of “Mi fans,” incorporating their feedback directly into product development.
In 2011, Xiaomi launched its first Android smartphone, and by 2014, it had become the largest smartphone seller in China. The company initially focused on online sales but later expanded into physical retail stores. By 2015, Xiaomi had diversified into a wide range of consumer electronics, including its popular Redmi and Mi smartphone series, as well as IoT and smart devices, further expanding its footprint in the global market.
In 2020, Xiaomi sold 146.3 million smartphones, and its MIUI operating system surpassed 500 million monthly active users. In the second quarter of 2021, Xiaomi surpassed Apple Inc. to become the world’s second-largest smartphone brand, solidifying its position as a global smartphone leader with a 17% share of the worldwide market, according to Canalys.
